Emerald Bay is one of the most iconic and photographed locations in Lake Tahoe. The bay is rich in history and offers activities for everyone from the historical Vikingsholm estate, countless hiking trails and boat camping.

In the spring time, Emerald Bay becomes even more magical with the help of lower Eagle falls. The falls are raging this year due to the enormous amount of snow we received this winter season. With a deep snow pack still up in Desolation Wilderness it looks like they will continue strong well into next month.

I headed out to the falls the other evening to shoot a couple long exposure photos. Here are a couple classic Emerald Bay shots. I can’t wait to get up there for a sunrise shoot, so stay tuned.

As a long time Tahoe local, I still catch myself mesmerized by the majestic vibrant blue of Lake Tahoe. I have looked at this view for over twenty years from just about every angle and perspective possible. I feel lucky to call Tahoe my backyard and even more lucky to use it as one of the main subjects of my work.

The observation deck at the top of the Heavenly Gondola is arguably one of the most amazing vistas in the Tahoe basin. As I stood there on this beautiful June afternoon I caught myself lost in the moment, almost as if it was my first time seeing this view.

I love meeting people who are new to Tahoe, there is this amazing excitement and euphoria just spewing out of them. When I look at the photo below, these are some of the thoughts that run through my mind.
