Fun powder shoot this morning with Ty Dayberry and Dan Benson. I was a perfect “Tahoe Blue Bird Day”. Really happy with the shots from today, especially the shot of Dan riding on the shadow line. Check it out!
So far it’s been a season to Remember, not just for Tahoe, but seems like the whole country is getting snow right now. This has been one of the best starts I can remember for a while. Usually, this time of the year were skiing on rocks and patches of dirt, pretty amazing to have the entire mountain open in the first month of the season. Hopefully, storms keep heading our way, it would be nice to have a HUGE winter, it’s been a while. Check out this recap of November/December so far.
Checked out the progress on the new Tamarack Lodge today. Looking very nice in there, as the crews are hard at work putting the finishing touches on the interior. The new bar 9150′ is taking shape and looks like this will definitely be the new hang out on the mountain. I also interviewed Food and Beverage Director Steve Turner and got the low down on all the food choices that will be available. The new lodge will open this winter, check out how great the inside looks.
One of the earliest openings of Mott Canyon in over 10 years thanks to a massive amount of snow in November. I met up with Snow Safety Coordinator Eric Burkhome and took a couple of laps through Mott. The snow was still OK from the past storm cycle, but a little on the heavy side. We grabbed some skiing shots, and then let Eric’s rescue dog Boulder make a few turns in the powder as well.
The Cal Trail Terrain Park has to be one of the best early season parks I’ve ever seen, Mike Thomas and his terrain park crew have started the season off with a bang. With all the snow this month, Mike was able to build 15 features and a three jump line, which everyone seemed to be very excited about. I met up with the Heavenly High Roller Team, Kyle Smaine, Graham Raymond, Jason Arens and Brent Whipple. This guys where shredding the early season park. Check out the action from the day.
