Spike TV – Playbook 360

Just got back from shooting two episodes of Playbook 360 for Spike TV at Northstar California. The show was hosted by Dhani Jones and featured Pro snowboarder Jamie Anderson and Pro skier David Wise. Jamie is a South Tahoe local and probably the most solid slopestyle rider in the game, she has won 4 X Games gold medals. David is also from Reno/Tahoe area and has won the gold medal the past two X Games in Skier halfpipe. It was truly and honor to work with such talented athletes.

The team from Deep Roots Media was in full effect on the production side. My good friend Dane Henry, owner of Deep Roots Media, was the Director of Photography on this project and I was the second camera. We had tons of help from our AC’s John Considine and Luis Rubio. Principle photography was shot on the RED Epic and 5dmkII. Such a fun shoot with a great crew!

Look out for the episodes on Spike TV, they will air in late February & early March.

ESPN – Elite 11 Finals

The Elite 11 Quarterback competition selects the top 25 high school quarterbacks in the country to compete for a spot in the top 11 and overall MVP. The camp/competition is coached by former Superbowl Champion Trent Dilfer and a talented line up of assistant coaches. The goal of the camp is to challenge and groom these young elite athletes for the next chapter in their careers. Trent and his team must be doing something right, last season 22 of the starting QB’s in the NFL came up through the camp.

I was one of the specialty cameras on this show, tasked with shooting interviews and creative transitional b-roll elements. Along side my good friend Dane Henry we shot on two RED Scarlet X’s and a Canon 5dmkII. Once again it was an awesome trip working with the talented team at DLP Entertainment, hats off to Executive Producers Micheal Hughes and Mark Mayer. Be sure to check out the 2 part mini documentary series on ESPN August 7th & 14th at 7pm Eastern and 4pm Pacific.

What a good looking crew!

AT&T – Visa Championships

The country’s top gymnasts headed to St. Louis for the 2012 Visa Championships, one of the qualifying stops on the road to London. This was my first trip to St. Louis and first time shooting gymnastics. It was definitely a cool experience to watch these amazing athletes in person. My favorite event to watch was the vault, I was blown away with how fast everything happened.

The DLP Entertainment crew was on hand to film this action packed event armed with a Arri Alexa and 3 Canon 5dmkII’s. Using small form factor camera systems allowed us to move around quickly to cover all the action. This was a tricky event to shoot, as we were very limited to where we could shoot from. My go to lens on this shoot was the Canon 70-200 f 2.8 IS and a 2x extender supported by a Manfrotto 561BHDV Monopod. Good luck to these gymnast in the up coming National Championships in San Jose and the Olympics this summer in London.

Heavenly Mountain – Season Recap 11/12

Another Ski season is on the books here at Heavenly Mountain Resort. I can honestly say this season was quite an interesting contrast to last years record breaking snow fall. This winter marked one of the driest winters in over 100 years here in Lake Tahoe. The months just kept passing without a single snowflake from mother nature. The storms finally arrived late in the season and we received the bulk of our seasonal snowfall around mid March. Despite the lack of snow, there was still plenty of memorable days and vertical feet logged. Check out some of my favorite highlights from this year.

Fox Sports – San Diego Padres Open

I Just got back from a week long shoot in San Diego filming the Padres for Fox Sports and DLP Entertainment. The objective of the project was to shoot the opening montage for the Padres, which airs before every game on Fox Sports. This was a really cool assignment, we shot just about every corner of San Diego in a really artistic and stylized way, basically a camera mans dream. For this shoot we wanted to roll as light as possible, so naturally the camera of choice was the Canon 5d MKII, an arsenal of lenses and Kessler pocket dollies to add a bit of movement to the shots. Check out this slick edit from the boys over at DLP Entertainment.
