Went out skiing/filming with Dan Benson. Fun day, we got two laps in Mott Canyon before the general public. Snow was deep and light!
Fun powder shoot this morning with Ty Dayberry and Dan Benson. I was a perfect “Tahoe Blue Bird Day”. Really happy with the shots from today, especially the shot of Dan riding on the shadow line. Check it out!
One of the earliest openings of Mott Canyon in over 10 years thanks to a massive amount of snow in November. I met up with Snow Safety Coordinator Eric Burkhome and took a couple of laps through Mott. The snow was still OK from the past storm cycle, but a little on the heavy side. We grabbed some skiing shots, and then let Eric’s rescue dog Boulder make a few turns in the powder as well.
Another foot of snow fell last night here in Tahoe, and it’s still dumping. Storms this week have produced high winds along the ridges, keeping the upper mountain closed. Today is one of the first days the entire mountain is open. The temperatures have been very cold, which in turn has dropped some really light snow. Dane Henry and myself headed out to grab some shots and make some turns. We made first tracks in Mott Canyon, dropping Susanne’s Saddle and North 40. The snow is amazing, some of the lightest I have skied in a while. Dane and I took turns filming each other and a couple of friends. Check out the edit from today.
With the opening of Mott canyon, some of Heavenly’s steepest terrain, Dane Henry and myself headed out to make some turns and capture some frames. Escorted by ski patrol, Dane, myself, and two models headed out to the canyons an hour before the general public. This was another two camera shoot, Dane shot all the wide shots from across the canyon, and I shot the tights. Special thanks to Eric Burkholm, Heavenly ski patrol snow safety director for helping us get to the location.
