More Powder Hits Tahoe

We received 8″ of snow over night, a perfect excuse to get out and shoot some video. The mountain was shocked in with clouds, so it was a tough day on the lighting side of things. I went out with Eric Burkholm from the Heavenly Ski Patrol. The good thing about rolling with Eric is he always knows where to get the fresh untracked snow. We dropped off the ridge in Mott Canyon and skied “Sharkeys” into Killebrew Canyon. This was my first time playing with the new head cam, which captured some awesome shots. Check out what you missed from yesterday.

Big Snow @ Heavenly 01/21/10

Another foot of snow fell last night here in Tahoe, and it’s still dumping. Storms this week have produced high winds along the ridges, keeping the upper mountain closed. Today is one of the first days the entire mountain is open. The temperatures have been very cold, which in turn has dropped some really light snow. Dane Henry and myself headed out to grab some shots and make some turns. We made first tracks in Mott Canyon, dropping Susanne’s Saddle and North 40. The snow is amazing, some of the lightest I have skied in a while. Dane and I took turns filming each other and a couple of friends. Check out the edit from today.

Killebrew Canyon Location Scouting

With help once again from Heavenly’s Ski Patrol, Dane Henry and myself got a personal guided tour through Killebrew Canyon. Armed again with two cameras, Dane shot the wide shot from the promise lands, and I grabbed the tights from below the fingers. Even though we captured some killer video, this was ultimately a scouting for future shoots in the canyon.
Thanks to Jeremy and Colton for showing us the goods.

Happy Holidays

I went out this morning and shot a couple of clips, and played in the new snow. It’s looking like the holidays are going to be good around here in Tahoe. My friend and ski patrol Brendan Mcgraw joined me for a run, and helped me grab a couple of ski shots.
Hope every one has Happy Holidays.

McCall Winter Broadcast Spot

Here is a 30 second TV broadcast spot produced for a local reality company here in South Lake Tahoe. The spot will be airing in the northern Nevada and local markets. Dane produced this spot from our library of stock footage, which will soon be available at a new site were working on. This is the first in a series of commercials for McCall Reality, look out for more coming soon.

The Snowmakers 3

By far one of the most challenging shoots I’ve been on. I give the snowmakers a lot of credit, because their job is tough and demanding. Dane Henry and I headed up the mountain with the swing crew at 7:00 pm. By snowmobile escort we captured the crew moving guns and setting up on Ridge Run. The winds picked up around 9:00, and it got cold. Despite all that Mother Nature was throwing at us, it was still a good time.
