7 Days with the 7D

Just got the 7D, and I can’t put the camera down, simply amazing design. I wanted to document my first week with the camera, so I hit up all my favorite spots here on the South Shore of Tahoe. Thanks to my roommate for putting up with me and a new camera, some moments she thought she was on the set of real world. Thanks Dawn. This video is a test with the camera playing with different setting, hand held, tripod, etc. This was all shot with the kit lens 28-128mm, which so far has worked well, even though I could use a little more on both ends of the scale.

Footage featured in Ski Film

I was so excited to find out that some of my shots from last ski season of Ty Dayberry are in the new Powder Whore telemark ski film. As I sat watching the premiere of “Flake” at Moe’s Place, I almost jumped out of my seat as mine and Dane’s footage lit up the screen. Over all it is such an honor to be a small part of their movie, these guys are legends in the Telemark film industry. I got to talk to one of the filmmakers after the movie, he was jazzed we supplied him with some footage. Amazing night.

Divine 9 TV Spot

I joined Dane Henry from www.deeprootsmedia.com to shot a 30 sec TV commercial and a 60 sec web video for the Divine 9. I worked as assistant camera and dolly grip for this project. The Divine 9 is made up of a group of 9 golf courses in the Carson Valley. We spent three hot days filming each of the different golf courses and a couple of interior shots at selected restaurants. Great learning experience working with Dane, he is very creative and equally talented. Here is Dane’s edit which aired in the Northern California and Northern Nevada TV Markets.

Bio Video

Thanks to the help of Dane Henry and Fred Wymore I put together this Bio video about myself. Pretty self explanatory, how I got started with video, where I studied film, and what I’m doing now.

Strawberry Profile

I teamed up with filmmaker Dane Henry over at www.deeprootsmedia.com, producer Fred Wymore, and host Megan Haman to shoot a profile on Strawberry California. I signed on to be Assistant Camera and dolly grip. This was a great opportunity to be immersed in creativity. The whole team bonded from the start, which equaled a great time of joking and laughing. Our main location for the shoot was the historic Strawberry Lodge, and the surrounding pony express trail. Our adventures also lead us to capture the old hwy 50 wagon train, and its many characters. We even came across a hand made collection of cigar box banjos and of coarse the creator had to sing us a song. A one of a kind experience.

Undersea Voyage Project

I spent the last month helping out with the Undersea Voyager Project here in Lake Tahoe. These guys were amazing to work with, Scott Cassel the man behind the mission is a diver, filmmaker, sub captain, and explorer. Check out the link above or check out his latest work diving with the Giant Squid which is featured on the discovery channel. Scott was amazing to work with, truly one of the coolest and badass guys I have ever met.

For this project I was signed on to be the boat operator (28′ Almar twin diesel) to help tow the sub around Lake Tahoe and to help with the filming of the documentary about the work here. The Undersea Voyage Project has attracted lots of publicity. A film crew from the Discovery Channel was on the boat for a hand full of days, traveled all the way from London to capture this exploration. 20 year old filmmaker Nathan Garofolos from South Lake Tahoe was on hand filming with his Red One Camera (Camera #998) for an up coming Imax teaser.
