Rock Tahoe Half Marathon
I recently had the opportunity to capture the first Rock Tahoe half marathon, which starts at Spooner Summit and ends at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Stateline, NV. The assignment was to produce a 2 minute sizzle reel, that captures the energy and highlights this unique half marathon. We knew from a production stand point, logistically this was going to be a tough event to shoot. The Action was constantly moving over a 13 mile stretch and all this happens in a 3-4 hour period.
Race Course Map
Producer Brandi Brown assembled a team of three cameramen; JT Cheveliar and myself covering all the ground shots, with Llyod Garden taking care of the aerial footage. Having a fast moving, small foot print crew was the only way we were able to follow and capture this 13 mile train of runners.
I prepped a pre production document outlining how many locations we would stop at, which person would cover the location and approximate timing for each spot. This planning proved to be invaluable on the day of the event, as everyone had a basic outline and shot list for the day. Overall, it was a really fun event to shoot and I think our team captured some great content. Below is the finished video.
