Tahoe Show 2015

It’s the third year in a row I’ve been hired to shoot and edit the highlight/sizzle reel for the NPC/IFBB Tahoe Show. The Tahoe Show is one of the largest and anticipated bodybuilding contest in Northern California and Nevada. I always have a fun time shooting this event, even though it’s some what different from what I normally shoot. I try to give an overall recap of the event, showing the competitors behind the scenes, on stage and small details that are all part of the show.

On the Production side, this is a this is a pretty fast moving, run and gun style of shooting. I’m consistently moving around, getting coverage and finding different camera angles. The Monte Blu show room and back stage are very dark, however, the stage and competitors are lit very bright. It’s somewhat challenging lighting conditions, but it also creates an opportunity to find interesting light and use it creatively. This year I shot on the Sony a7s, which is a small, light weight full frame camera that’s great in low light situations. I also used a small jib, slider, handheld gimbal and drone to capture slick moving shots. See below for full list of equipment used.
