Temperatures are dropping

Winter is right around the corner here in Lake Tahoe. Temperatures are starting to drop, and hopefully the snow will start flying. There were some crazy clouds out this morning, so I headed up the mountain to grab a couple of shots.

Amgen Tour of California

Dane Henry and myself had the honor of producing a promo piece for the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority and the Amgen Tour of California. The Amgen tour is the largest cycling event in America, and resembles the famous Tour de France style of race. The tour has eight stops around California, starting here in South Lake Tahoe.

We had an amazing morning for filming, I was part of the ground crew, and setup on fannette island in emerald bay to interview the mayor. Dane was buzzing around us in a helicopter shooting the amazing aerial footage and also put together the edit. This video was shot, edited and delivered all in one day.

Labor Day Fireworks Timelapse

Since I have been shooting timelapses, I’m constantly looking for new and creative approaches. Here is a quick timelapse of the labor day firework show in South Lake Tahoe. I also set up a second shot with all the boats heading back to the keys marina.

Tahoe Summer Sunset

I shot at this location back in April and got some really nice shots,  so I headed back down there a couple of nights ago to check out the sunset. It was a nice night by the lake, lots of people and boats out enjoying it. Love the spiders, they all emerged right as the sun was setting. Check out the video.

Riva Grill Commercial

I just finished shooting and editing this web commercial for the riva grill in south lake tahoe California. The spot was produced by Megan Hammitt, and shot on the canon 7d. Come check out the Riva Grill, home of the famous “Wet Woody”.

Gunbarrel 25

The Gunbarrel 25 is a crazy ski event that challenges competitors to make 25 laps down Glen Plakes signature run at Heavenly, the Gunbarrel. This is my third time shooting the event, and by far the most people I’ve seen competing. It’s really a cool mix of people from all over the country, some as far a New York ventured out to be apart of the event. Lot’s of kids, even a 5 year old, heard he made 10 laps. Another great event, Glen is awesome!

The next day I had the honor of taking a few Laps with Glen and Friends on Gunbarrel.

April Snow Continues

Wow! this season just keeps going, we had some more super light and dry blower powder today. We filmed mainly off the front side of the mountain. The first couple of hours we headed out “hogsback” looking for some shots with the lake as the back drop. Even with the size of Lake Tahoe, it’s really hard to get a good lake shot. I think we found a few goodies, check out the shot of Graham Raymond airing out towards the Lake. After hogsback, we got are usually snow-mo  ride from ski patrol to our secret filming grounds. Boy was it deep in there! what a way to cap off the season. My prediction is powder all month, sorry spring skiing lovers.
