The Rahlves Banzai Tour is the brainchild of Daron Rahlves the most decorated ski racer in US Ski Team history. The Banzai tour takes place in Lake Tahoe, at three different ski resorts, Squaw Valley, Kirkwood and Sugar bowl. The Banzai tour is one of the most unique forms of ski racing I have ever witnessed. It reminds me of downhill ski racing, a mix of motocross and big mountain skiing. It’s a very true form of racing, four people head-to-head, the fastest person to the bottom wins. The course is all natural terrain, this isn’t a perfectly groomed race course or manicured park jump.

Martin cut every run on the Nevada side of Heavenly and cut the Olympic down hill course for the 1960’s Olympics at Squaw Valley. laketahoenews.net/2011/02/martin-hollays-life-deserves-a-better-book/

The show was hosted by Dhani Jones and featured Pro snowboarder Jamie Anderson and Pro skier David Wise. Jamie is a South Tahoe local and probably the most solid slopestyle rider in the game, she has won 4 X Games gold medals. David is also from Reno/Tahoe area and has won the gold medal the past two X Games in Skier halfpipe. It was truly and honor to work with such talented athletes.
The team from Deep Roots Media was in full effect on the production side. My good friend Dane Henry, owner of Deep Roots Media, was the Director of Photography on this project and I was the second camera. We had tons of help from our AC’s John Considine and Luis Rubio. Principle photography was shot on the RED Epic and 5dmkII. Such a fun shoot with a great crew!
Look out for the episodes on Spike TV, they will air in late February & early March.
